Default what is the noise

What is the ticking noise I hear in the motor area. I was told it is not the motor its the belt drive clutch systems. I dont know I have 900 miles on it. are the susuki motors reliable and durable? thanks guys. I have owned only hondas all my life not used to wierd noises. happy holidays!(merry christmas).

Default what is the noise

I have nearly 15,000miles on my AC400 manual and it is going strong (2800 miles this year alone). There has always been a ticking noise that sounds like the valve tappets but I believe it is a compression release mechanism. It is present on both my 500 TRV (auto tranny) and the 400 (manual tranny). I find it more noticeable at idle.

The auto tranny also has a little bit of a whine noise to it which I have found to be normal as well. I have owned Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha and AC. Each seems to have their own "wierd" quirky noises.

Oh, welcome to the forum.

I have a AC400 2004 and have the same whine noise and ticking. I asked my local dealer on it and confirmed it is normal for some whining and the ticking noise. I did have a severe whining noise and found it was the belt.

Hello,
The ticking noise you hear is possibly the fuel pump. Take your seat off and locate the fuel pump (should see the hoses coming into and out of it) and touch the pump while it is running. The one on my 500 about drove me crazy when I first got it until I found out what was doing it.
