Yep...I would second the clean the carb sugestion. While you have the carb out cleaning it I would clean the choke as well and put some fuel additive in the fuel like Sea-foam to keep the fuel system clean.
It has also been my experience that the carb is easier to remove with the side panels, seat and airbox removed. Now that I said that clean the air box a filter too.

Yes, it would mean your float is sticking open. Just fixed one. Check your needle valve to see if there is small ring around the pointy end. Also, you can take a q-tip and apply a small amount of a mild abrasive such as tooth paste and comet clenser or baking powder or jewlers rouge and clean the inner part of the seat where the needle valve seats. This should help correct your problem.

Update on my TBX, got a small local guy to come out and look at the carb, he took it off didnt see anything major wrong. Blew the carb out with my small compressor, put it all back together and works fine.
He said it might have been the old gas I had in it for months, run this tank out, put new in with stabil and should be ok.
Best part, the guys came and worked on it for an hour and only charged me $60. Saved me having to drive 50-60 miles to a dealer.
