Default oil change

Is there any way to get all of the old oil out of a 2000 AC 300 4x4? I realize that the engine is the oil cooled model but even after removing the drain plug and installing a new oil filter the oil still seems kinda dark to me. I was thinking there was still old oil in the cooler lines and cooler.

maybe try to disconnect the lines to the oil cooler and let them drain, but i dont think its worth it. Id just change it a little sooner next time if your worried about it. If you think about it,you put 3qts in it,thats alot of new oil.

I have drained the oil out of the oil cooler before by removing a hose. Then I discovered a large plug on the bottom of the cooler. Never tried it though because even then the oil still seemed to stay a little colored. I then looked at the AC oil I was putting in and it had a greenish brown tint to it. I think once it mixes with a little bit of the old oil in the motor in gets darker. Make sure you change the filter with the oil and clean the pick-up screen. I have not bothered to drain the oil from the oil cooler since.

I usually put just over 3qts in with a filter change.
