Just wondering if anyone is running 30" tires on their arctic cat?

I am thinking of going 30x10x12 all around on my Thundercat
Would I be able to run them without porblems?

I have seen some videos on Y/T of Polaris, Yamaha, Can Am's running them on smaller machines

If not, I am just gonna go 28x10x12..........

 

It depends on what you consider to be a "problem". Over the years I have read postings from idiots putting 29's on their stock 450-500 rides and claiming there was no loss of power.

By comparison to your stock setup, you will have a VERY significant loss of low end power with 30's...but if you don't go into mud deeper than an inch or two, or if you never climb hills with a 5% or steeper grade, or if you never try to crawl over rocks/logs on a trail, then it won't be a problem.

Take a look at AC's specialized 700 Mudpro, which has a special axle ratio installed by the factory in order to be able to effectively turn it's factory-issued 28 inch tires...such a great idea (and it's about bloody time!)

I wonder if anyone has considered swapping Mudpro gears/axles into their standard machines...or if it can even be done

 

Yeh I decided not to go that big
I went with 28' Mudlites
Only 8-10lbs heavier than the stock tires each (some were 42lbs each that I looked at...CRAZY!.....Thats a lot of extra stress that I dont need...The Mudlites will do me fine)
It put me up to 15' clearance it has affected power very little if any
I havent checked the top speed out to see if I lost any but I dont really care if I did
I will also be installing a clutch kit so with the tires and the kit I will probably loose 10km/hr give or take a few...But even so the bike would still do 120km/hr+...I also am ordering an HMF this month

 

Oh yeh, I put 26" mudlites on my Kodiak 450 before I bought the new one
and I saw a definate loss in power...nothing huge tho, and also lost 8km/hr top speed...So yeh anyone that puts 29's on a stock 450 or 500 and says no power loss hahahaha yeh right.....Also, wouldnt bigger tires affect the speedo anyways?.....I wonder if it makes it read faster or slower and or if it can be corrected?

Imo larger tires will make speedo slower than smaller ones. revolution time is slower.

 

yeah bigger tires will make your speed o show slower than what you going. i got 26''589 right now but thinking about puttins some 28'' 589 or mud light on my 98 454 whatcha think

 

i run 26" mud lites on my 700 and they are perfect, no power loss and a lot more traction than stock. i also like the weight factor

 

If you want clearance you might look at mudpro springs too. I run 27's on my thundercat that are taller than some companies 28's and never have power issues other than too much power for the stock axles...

 

I had 28" mud lites on my T-Cat and after 1 month of normal riding, had it back to the dealer for a winch install and some recall work...The bike was there 32 days as the tires completely F'd the tranny...Lots of power to turn them yup, but the tranny's in them are very poor!...Now I run 26" mud lite XTR and no more problems...Plus I got back all of my top end! ...It was almost a $3000 bill as well but warranty covered it as its only 3 months old...Extended warranty will soon be purchased!!!
