Default High or Low Miles?

Hey guys, i am getting ready to sell my Cat. I bought it for $1800 a bargain b/c the seller had no clue how to sell anything, and i no my Arctic Cat 400 4x4 with snow plow is worth about $2000 now. but the only thing that concerns me is the mileage. i am not sure if 1,700 miles is a lot on an ATV. i only put 200 of those miles on it just from plowing this winter. From the condition of the ATV i understand that those 1,700 miles are "not hard miles". Still runs like it is brand new even though it is a 2003.

So is 1,700 miles a lot?

I have a 2003 AC 400 and I have around 15,000miles on it. So to me mileage can be deceiving. I think you are correct in looking at "what kind" of mileage was it rather than "how much".

It all comes down to maintenance, and what kind of miles. Plowing can be considered hard miles becasue it can be tough on the drive train.

I think $2000 is a great price for the ATV only in good shape. If the plow goes too I would consider something closer to $2500-$2800 range. Those plows are not cheap!

My frind looks at it this way, if you take one trip each month and go about 100miles (a little more than 1 tank of gas). Only riding during Spring and SUmmer depending on where you live. You could ride 6-8months a year. Average 600-800 miles a year. If it was made in 2003 it could have been on the market since June 2002 unitl June 2010 you have 8 years. Following this you could have around 4800-6400 miles and be AVERAGE.

Looking at it that way, 1700 miles is rather low. But then you need to look at "what kind" of miles. I personally would condsider it low.
