Default Best Climbing Machine??

I just went out with the new AC 650 TRV.. I have never had a 4x4 machine before and just am amazed at how this thing just will eat up anything I throw at it. With that Diff Lock and Low range... I crawled up things I never thought possible. So just wondering... not wanting to start the proverbial "mines better than yours" debate, I am just wondering if this is about as good as it gets? What a blast.

Any 4x4 quad with a front locker weather it be a loccker or limited slip will take you more places than you thought possiabile. All we need to do as a conssumer is find the one that fits us best!

I too was very impressed with my 07 650 TRV's climbing ability....the longer wheelbase handled some steep rutted trails better than my Suzuki Vinson, which I was convinced was part mountain goat. Of course, I did this steep climbing stuff without my girlfriend on the back, simply because I didn't want to have the extra weight on the back (not that she's heavy) or worry about back-flipping it on top of her.

The longer wheelbase, wider track, and locking front differential made the difference for sure...fun times!

Couldn't have said it better. I have experienced the difference with the Polaris Sportsman X2. Climbing and descending hills is much safer with the longer wheelbase. As you've found out, the longer wheelbase has more pluses than minuses. Gives you a better ride, better on hills, etc. 2-up machines are a great way to go. You spend a couple thousand more but get almost the utility of 2 seperate machines.

Once a ATV has a true awd system and a low range it just a matter of the best tires win after that. I would also think those longer stretched,X2 or 2 up touring ATVs should be more stable on steep up hillls.
