I posted this on a few other forums.....it's just too good not to share.....

Well, I'm not sure if this is a GOOD thing or not......but purely by accident earlier this wk I discovered the absolute FEAR.... and the complete RUSH...... of what I consider my 1st serious UHOH...AHHHH CRAPPPP.......mud hole.....

And I dropped the TRV right into the middle of it!

It was DEEP....and it was a thick mucky SOUP! With all the rain here over the past few wks, there's been ALOT of run-of...especially in the coulie/valley hill sides all around. Well it was my own curiosity/stupidity that I ventured into a low area that was OBVIOUSLY a washout with grass all flattened and mounds of loose sand all laid out nicely like it was a beach.

For the record....there WAS a trail going thru there....I was following it &....the front of the TRV just droppped into this crap up to the headlights.

Reverse.......ahhhh.....NOPE
K then...forward......UHOH...I'm SINKING deeper!???
CRAP!!....4L Lock....jump as far back and hit the throttle....
Say....what's that slushy "sucking sound".....??
Hmmmm....this isn't really good...and hey NO PLACE to hook a winch too....
where the heck is that KID of mine?!!?

Took 15+min of slow "digging/chewing/rocking" thru this sticky stuff that was up over the rear foot peg platform till I finally hit solid bottom and rode out. THANK GOD for my MUDCAT tires!!! (thanks sweetie!)

The TRV was a BEAST! ...I luv 'er even more now! (for saving my butt and doing a fine job of it!!)

When I finally got out my boy was just sitt'n there on his 250 laughing. "Wow dad....that was awesome!! I was beginning to think I might have to go home and get mom's 550 to get you out!"

Yea......explain THAT to the wifey.....I can just hear it:
"Why are you taking MY machine? And where's your father?"
"Dad sent me to come and get it cause he's stuck up to his seat in a BIG Mud Hole!"
"He did WHAT??!?!"

Whew at least I got out w/o having to send him to go and get it

Scared the crap outta me..........but it was FUN. I'm now beginning to see the appeal of everyone who does mudd'n.....but NOT the 2-3hrs of cleaning over 2 days afterwards!!

- Time to get a pressure washer!

Oh....and SORRY NO PICS I was so busy trying to get out and get all the crap off the TRV.....& the boy didn't have a camera with (he does now) that I completely forgot. - ME BAD.

 

Sounds like a hole I got myself into one time. It took one of my buddies getting out his camera for the evidence that I got stuck to get me going to try to rock it out. Just made it out with the old stock 489s. I have Mudlite XTRs. I haven't come close, yet, to getting stuck.

 

I got into a hole like that yesterday, and couldn't get out with the crappy stock tires on my quad. Broke my winch cable trying to get out. Mud was thick and up to the seat bottom. There are holes like that all over where we ride here. Jeez I need tires. Glad you had fun tho. It is a rush to pull through one of those pits.
