Default trv 500 battery replacement

Hi, i just bought a battery from walmart for the trv, it fits but it is like 1/2" taller so I need to buy longer screws. It is suppose to be those batteries that have more power and tougher. The tool tray will not exactly fix flat like the stock one but with the longer bolts should be fine. Has anyone bought the $75 dollar from walmart. It says that it won't let if upside down, suppose to handle the shock better. Or should I just take it back and say that it doesn't fit

Was that the sealed gel battery from Wally's? A friend put one in his 650 TRV last spring and it is toast just over a year later!

Last one I got was from Wally's and was an "everstart" I think. (not sure of the part number) I think I paid $38 or something like that. The battery terminals were switched though. Luckily I had enough slack in my battery cables that is was not an issue.

It is almost 2 years old now and works great even when I park it outside a few days and the temps stay in Below zero range. I figure if I can get 3 years out of it I am happy. I also use a battery float charger that is permanently wired to the battery. I think that helps extend the battery life, especially during the winter months. Would also help if you stored your ATV for long periods of time.

Hi Swampy, The battery from walmart was just too tall anyways. I bought another one and it is the same size and a gel battery. I start the quad every week, i don't have the a trickle charger at the moment, but i do start it up so that the fluids lube the seals and whatever else is in the engine and diffs. The battery was made from Power source and is made in China. I wasn't happy about the china thing, but it was the same price as the walmart battery and it fit correctly so that made me happy lol

Good, check out Cabelas for a battery tender/charger. The one they offer can be hard wired to your battery and you plug it in when you park your ATV for long periods of time.
