I guess that you can't figure out the government unless you work for them!! I see that it is a significant savings for you to not use the trailer. Good luck...sounds like you are stuck in an expensive situation for riding!

The mud hole was a bit deceptive...once I got stuck my brother thought he could get in and roost me...he didnt make it far enough to even get close to getting me. Made the winch priceless and a good pic too!

The Penalty for living in paradise, I guess.......

seriously though, we do have some great riding country, and generally the landowners are fairly easy going, this coming weekend I'm planning a ride from Port Howard to Albermarle and back (round about 280 Kms) and there is not one bit of Tarmac anywhere on the route, we reckon about 2 1/2 days in total. Two nights camping. Should be fun.

Default Keeganbar ATV Towing

Hi Everyone,

I appreciate all of your comments and concerns as they are the typical one's we recieve. I have been towing my Honda Fourtrax for over ten years for up to 20 miles and I have had no transmission issues. I keep the speed under 45 mph. This was originally designed for short distant towing and more importantly as a means to tow a disabled ATV. The designer of this product also invented the Float-On Boat trailer. He designed the Keeganbar to tow his ATV's to and around his Orange Groves and hunting property. He has used this accross state lines but we do not recommend this. He often went hunting with a friend or his spouse and if one of the quads had trouble, he would simply connect them with the keeganbar and tow them back. It also came in handy when trying to get 2 atv's down a narrow trail where a trailer would not work. I would like to offer a deal to anyone willing to submit a video testimonial. Your money will be refunded when the video is received. Special pricing available for ATV groups and Clubs.

I know a farmer that tows his AC behind what ever impliment he happens to be using. Very slow of course in the fields, but many, many miles up and down the fields. He sez if he ever needs to run home it is so much cheaper and faster on the wheeler than drive the tractor that he actually saves money in spite of the extra wear on tires, belts, etc, and he never has to walk the length of the field if he ever breaks down...

So what happens when you snap or bend a tie rod, or break an axle (front or rear) or a wheel locks up? You won't be towing it home with this device

This has "accident" and especially "LAWSUIT" written all over it. Handling characteristics of ATVs aren't condusive to towing, which is why they "lock" the handlebars in place, yet I can't imagine it being towed/pulled/slid around a corner without considerable wailing from the tires and tremendous lateral forces jerking at the frames of all vehicles involved.

And if one of those tore loose or flipped at 45 mph, it could easily cause a fatality by veering into oncoming traffic

maybe if there was someone other than the company rep telling you they use it without trashing the quads in the process....but it doesn't seem like anyone has spoken up for it.

Bad idea. Bad.

If any of those happened, how would you get it back anyway?

I wouldn't use it to tow on the open road myself. And if I had to, it would be well below 45. How many times have you heard of an atv coming off the trailer?

I can see it has its uses. Limited ones. And you would have to show some responsibility in using it.

But then again, we're a sue happy society.

Your not the first to have concerns with a new idea. That is a normal reaction. However, we have sold hundreds of these in the recent years and never had one complaint or return. It has a very secure connection to the ATV. Obviously there are speed restrictions. 45 mph for 4wd and 55 mph for 2wd. Its great for short distant towing and ALL Off-road towing. Hunting property, orange grooves, mountain sides, beaches, etc. ATV low pressure tires will wear faster when driven on paved surfaces. This is due to the heat of the pavement against the soft rubber, the weight of the driver, spinning of the tires, and making hard turns. The KEEGANBAR is towing only the weight of the ATV. It also uses special stabilizing straps allowing the ATV to track perefectly. The towing is very controlled. I have recently reached out to users asking them for video's.

Default Keeganbar Towing

Ya' know I been looking at all the posts on this subject and it strikes me funny that no one has suggested to tow the bikes on a trailer to the ferry launch, unload the bikes...then use the towing system as it was intended. I think we all know how expensive these machines are and how important they are to us. Why take any kind of chance or risk in damaging anything(ours or someone elses). This way everyone wins...you save on tires, tranny, engine, steering, and Keeganbar makes a sale, and you buy a trailer so your quad doesn't get any more abuse than what you would normalally put on it.
