Default Just bought a T Cat

My dealership in town happened to have a brand new 2009 thundercat with 0 miles on it so I decided to buy it. I am kinda regretting it now as I know nothing about them and kinda wished I went with a Suzuki instead. Am I gonna have a piece of crap that I am gonna constantly be fixing or did I actually get myself a decent quad? For the most part I ride on dry trails and tend to try to stay out of the mud. Should I take it back before its to late or will I be happy with it? I don't want a quad that's gonna quit running on me while in 2 hours in the bush where no truck can get to. Plus I don't really wanna know what its like to load this quad into the back of a truck while it doesn't run. I don't imagine it would be too fun pushing it up ramps Thanks for your answers guys.

Looks like you got a bum deal, won't even be able to give that POS away. Except to me. Let me know where you are and I will take it off your hands I guess. Make sure you leave the gas tank full for me too. I appreciate it!

Why do you say I got a bum deal?

I think Catterman is being a little sarcastic. More or less saying, "Unless you're having problems with your Cat why do you think you got a bad deal?"
At least that's what I felt he was saying.

Yeah, usually most people have the buyers remorse after they've at least ridden the machine first.

Sounds like you have doubts about the machine, and you won't easily change that. Every little sound is going to be a problem, whether it is or not.

Good luck, but these are fairly dependable machines.

Yes, I was joking. Thundercats are awesome. Unless you paid like $13,000 for it i don't see why you think you got a bad deal. That is one fun atv you got there, enjoy it.

considering i paid 6800 us dollars for my 700 in 08,yes i think it was a deal. To be honest,i would have had a hard time passing that up on the t cat. The T cat had some issues in 08 being that it was the 1st year out. 09 was better as far as i can tell. Id just take it easy for a few hours to let things wear in properly. What most people do not realize is that even though the engine may not take long to break in,the belt takes a bit as well. It will stretch and wear,so let it do that at easy speeds for a bit, then let loose. The belt life will last longer. You dont have to baby it just dont hold the throttle wide open for 5 minutes strait. You have to remember its a utility machine, not a dune buggy or a race quad. So if you jump it 10 ft in the air, things will begin to fail on you. Since its at least 3 years old,id ask the dealer for a new battery,it probably wont last too long if its been on the showroom floor. To answer your question, i think you will be fine with it. Im sure there are plenty of 09 T cats with 1,000's of miles on them with ZERO issues. On the other hand, things can go wrong with any make or model,LOL. Ive had 3 cats and not one has left me sitting on the trail. congrats on the new ride!!

Thanks for the replies guys I definitely feel better about my purchase . One thing I don't like about the quad is that it has no pull start? Is it possible to install one without their being any complications?

Most will probably say "good luck trying" to pull start it. its hard enough for some to pull a single cylinder 700. The t cat will be much harder. Most manufacturers dont put a pull start on EFI bikes due to needing the voltage to run the fuel pump. If your battery is dead, then there is no point in having a pull starter on it. On a side note,my battery was almost dead and would barley crank the engine over, but i have a recoil(pull starter) on my 700 and used the electric start and pulled it at the same time and that was enough to get it started.
