Default winch

OK I am looking for a 2000=-2500 lbs winch for light duty work and lifting snow plow.
I don't want to spend 125 bucks on a winch. I am looking at fright habor which got one for 89 bucks.. are they worth it? and point me to the good one. remote is nice. or a handle bar control.
I got the plate installed on my 366.. now need of a winch to finish off.

Know your application, but do not know your usage. I will agree 100% with TLC in that if you buy cheap, you get cheap. That being said, if you only have a small area to maintain you don't necessarily need top of the line either. I do know that when my factory winch fails, I will be looking into the Warn line for replacement.

runva makes a great winch and fairly inexpensive. Not as cheep as harbor freight but you don't want to cheap out on a winch just in case you have a spot where you really need it and it fails. remember your life could be on the line. I have both handle bar controls and just added a remote. I like the remote way better as i found bar controls were never in a good spot where i could get comfortable when pulling on extreme hills. That and i can toss the remote to some one if needed

I agreed on that.. I don't want to waste on a cheap one and get in a bind on it. did some homework finding that mid of the road is good start.. yes a remote control is better than the clumsy handhandle control.

$130 is still pretty cheap for a good winch, I saw some Warn Vantage winches for about $200 for a 2000lb winch on Amazon, that's their less expensive version but still a good quality product. Buying a cheap winch means in a few months you'll be spending more money buying one to replace it. Granted not all cheap winches are created equal but spending a little more for a quality product will pay off in the long run. I'd spend the $200 for the Warn winch.

not all low end winches are junk. Sometimes you get lucky. On my first atv since it had no possible place to mount a winch properly and out of the way. I used a portable winch that attached with straps. it was cheap but man i could torture that thing and it never left me stranded. Not to many winches out their can pull for over 3 hours strait - rehooking things up. I over loaded it so bad i though for sure it was gonna die. When i was done it was so hot i could not even pick it up by the handle

Its just a crap shoot buying a cheap winch. Many of them do have quality components, just takes a little research to find out which one could be a diamond in the rough. Honestly, I would probably buy one from my local atv dealer, they usually have pretty good deals on accessories. That way if I do get a defective one, I can easily return it and get a replacement instead of emailing someone and hoping to get a response and then having to ship the junk one back etc.
