01 400 4x4 Question
#1
I was at a dealers on sunday and he said that you can get the 2wd 4wd engager insatlled for around $150 on the all time 4wd 400. Is this true? I haven't seen it in any of the brochures that they give you

I would be really interested in the answer to that question myself. Well I took the 400 out for the first time this am for a light 10 mile ride( should have been sleeping
) and boy this thing goes where ever you point it. Plush ride and great power amazing climbing ability in low range !! Climbed over a tree that was pretty good sized with total ease the Polaris and Yamaha guys I met and was riding with were very impressed on how effortless it looked like I was traversing the same terrain they were struggling with. 2 hours on the quad and she's already pretty muddy !!

Sounds like a great time. I haven't picked mine up yet hopefully by wednesday. i went to a dealer close to my work and he told me they just came out with the 2wd and 4wd engauger. He gave me a price of $59.95 not installed so it looks like it is true. I say this is a good mod for AC to come out with. how is the sterring on the 400 with 4wd engauaged all the time?

Are you sure that it was for the 400? I know they had one for the 250 because it had the same diff as the 300.
Everyone has said that the 400 diff is different and you would need to swap it for a 500 diff to get the 2wd/4wd engagement.

I would love to have that mod on my 400. The 400 steers very light even though it is full time 4wd. Find out all you can first then get if you still want it. 2wd drive is easier to power slide and throw mud on your friends!

The steering is not bad at all except on pavement and really dry hardpack (still not bad for a 4x4) which is to be expected but on all other terrain I had no problems today ! The one benefit I can see would be sliding the *** end around in gravel and more loose terrain giving you a little more excitment but thats not really why I bought this quad.
