I have a 00 arctic cat that i recently purchased. It ran fine when testing and ran fine before the cold weather kicked in.

i started and ran it for about 20 minutes in the cold. Hours later, tried to start it and couldn't get it to fire up.

things i tried: -replaced battery, new spark plug, pour HEET additive in the gas tank. I removed the spark plug and left it on the coil to see if there is any spark. Turns out i do have spark. It is an electric choke so i don't even know for sure if choke is on at the moment.

please help troubleshoot, I am out of ideas. Thanks

 

See if blocking the air box intake helps on starting or you can try one small squirt of wd 40 or ether and see if it cranks up. I hate electric chokes and some on the Arctic Cat forums mention the same problem.You can always check the choke wiring along with pulling the choke itself and make sure the spring and plunger are clean. It's supposed to open the enrichener circuit when cold and as kit warms up closes,but seems like everyone I've encountered has had problems. Wonder if your tank had some water in it and got sucked into the lines and froze? You have fuel making it to the carb? Pull the drain of the bowl.

 

Tried blocking the air and pouring half a bottle of heet in the gas tank, still will not fire up.

 

Try a shot of ether. If it fires up and runs ok after wards,then it's a choke problem. If it only runs off the ether alone,wont stay running, you may need to check into the carb itself for problems.

 

if the ice is up the fuel line then that not going to help.
