Default 2000 A/C 500 fan motor

Can the bike run with out the fan as long as the bike is moving. Fan was torn apart and lubed but still sounds rough to say the least. Going on a weekend run next week and am concern about overheating if it decides to finally give out. Found a used one but they wanted almost just as much for new one which are running around $140 or so. Any input would be appreciated.

You are asking for trouble. Have you tried wiring it hot? It may not be the motor. I wired mine to come on with the ignition, been running that way for the last 2,500 miles, no problem. Sounds reassuring to hear the fan come on with the ignition. Look on eBay, if you need the motor, should be pretty cheap.

while you can run without a fan i would not recommend it. I ran for half a day with the fan out before i realized the fuse was blown from a water crossing. The machine did not over heat until i started to push it. I also run a temp gauge so i can monitor my temps if things go bad. I also don't recommend wiring the fan to run constantly. It creates extra wear and tear on the fan, charging system, and takes much longer for the engine to come up to temp if ever.

Zrock is right, mine does take about 1/2 mile to come up to 160f and in the winter, I put a piece of cardboard over most of the radiator. You might want a self resetting fuse for the fan if you go thru deep water.

I know the fan on my Brute comes on a lot. Obviously a totally different engine but all atv engines tend to run hot and need all the help they can get. If my fan quit working, I'm certain mine would overheat.
