I have a 99 300 AC with K&N air filter. It did have stock muffler modified. But it made it have to high of pitch so I traded it back for stock.

So I was wondering if any one has tried or knows any one that has adapted a universal supertrap IDS to there 300 or 500. And hows the sound.

Would like the revs back it was noticeable

What do you mean about the "revs"?

I have heard of someone installing a universal IDS on a 300, but the 500 has a raceing series IDS made for it. Only down side to it is that it is very loud.

Twig,
Any after market pipe will make the quad louder. Because they are less restrictive. Less restriction equals more power. The "E" Series along with the IDS system both have discs that tune the exhaust. What this does is allow you to control the noise and restriction by adding or subtracting discs. Less discs equal less power but quieter sound.
If you want the best pipe with a lower noise level try the white Bros. "E" Series. Yes, it will be louder than your stock. but, out of all the after market pipes it is the quietest pipe. It also offers the best performance gains in my opinion.

It tops the RPMs out sooner with the stock muffler compared to the modified stock. I would have power left before I had to shift

I think I could handle a loud thumper rather than high popper. I've heard the supertrap, it seemed to have a low rumble.

The universal E series does it clamp on the exiting pipe, or do you need to pipe it from the head.

Twig,
The universal just clamps on to the existing head pipe.

Did you talk to the SuperTrapp rep at HL's opening. You cna purchase a quiet series core for that racing series muffler and convert it.

Yea, I talked to him. He was going to show me a universal 3" car model that alot of people(he says) are useing on ATVs, but I forgot to go back and talk to him when he went back to his booth.

He did tell me how to get a quiet core for any pipe, and showed me how to go about changing the core.
