Does anyone know of a locker or a clutck kit for the AC500i?

Well, High Lifter got there 500i. The first day they had it they made there first product for it. They made a lift kit the very first day, but it will take alittle time for all the peices to go into production. So, don't call them up asking for a lift for your "i" model just yet. I'll update you guys as soon as it is avalible to the public. As for the specs. Lets just say VERY impressive. High Lifter's 700 Polaris has a full front lift kit with Progressive's front suspension kit along with 28" Outlaws, and it has 14" of ground clearance with this set up. The 500i with ONLY a lift kit and stock tires had 14.5" of ground clearance. How's that for impressive??

About the locker, I'll ask them what there plans are as soon as I get a chance. I would not put a spool type locker on this ATV either, I'd much rather go with out one and wait for Arctic Cat or High Lifter to come out with a disengaging locker first, but it is your choice.

Yellow Fellow, you have still not said which model you are looking at. IS it the automatic or the manual transmission??

I'm looking at the 5-speed model, in green, maybe with Magnum rims in black and 12.5 all the way around! I like the simple method and always being locked up, no two wheel drive for excuses like oh I was in two wheel drive, no you just got spanked by an Artic Cat. I like the spool set-up other then the too hard to steer, but it's always there; your not waiting for the other wheel to kick in and you're not counting on electricall compents or clutches that wear. Someone on here has to have a pic or diagram of the front diff? Help is a must here boys, I know for a fat even without a lift, but with a locker, that we're looking at the new king of the mudd!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if all you want is a locked front end, the front end should be weldable (niteowl locker). This would be the cheapest way to go anyway...

Alright here is the low down of the locker, the dealer has a pic of the inners and he said it can be locked. The diffs of the 2001 model is different then the 2002 500, I couldn't tell what is different. But he'd like to get his hands on the diff inself, so I guess will have to wait til the holidays are over, so I can purchase a new bike. He's going to get back to me and tell me his plans for attack so I'll keep everyone on informed.

I have about 1500 miles so far on my 589s, the fronts are in great shape the rears are showing some wear. I contribute this to too many power slides and just plain sliding around. It is just to fun to do doughnuts around all them full time quads. They are by no means wore out, not even half just showing some wear.

Yellowfellow,

I think your dealer is confused. There is no microfish that showes the internals of the front and rear diffs of the Arctic Cat. They only show the whole assmebaly because you can not get internal parts. YOu have to buy them assmebled with all the parts.

I did just get a great idea though. Since the front and rear differentials are almost identical, you could buy a rear case assembally and just bolt it inplace of the factory front differetial housing. It woudl serve your perpous greatly because it would keep it in spooled 4wd.

I'll try to get you a price on the rear case assembally Monday.

correct, sorry I thought that he wanted the whole front diff to make a locker for. I did get the part number for the front diff, if you still want it... The microfiche is exactly what you say, externals, but it is a front diff that he could work on?

Will my service manual have the insides of the engine/diff/tranny/etc? Because, if not, I don't much want it.

thanks for any info, and let me know about the part# and 800#

Howie said he had everything he needed and I will here from him in the new year. The rear diff thing is kinda of interesting though, I wonder if they are the same inside and out?

Hmm, don't know the price on the rear diff (not listed on the mirco-fish) but it has to be cheaper than the $700 dollar front diff assembaly.

The front and rear diffs are not IDENTICAL, but seem to be interchanable with almost everyone of there parts. So, it should bolt in with little to no mods.
