I was wondering if someone could answer this question about the cooling fan on the AC 400. I live in Minnesota and just purchased my first ATV. I decided to go with the Arctic Cat 400 4x4 because of the great reviews it got. Anyways, I noticed tonight that the fan was disconnected, so I plugged it back in. But I was wondering if the previous owner may have disconnected it for the winter (since it gets really cold up here). I don't have the original manual, so I don't know if the fan needs to be disconnected or not in the winter. Can someone please help?

BTW, where could I get a factory manual cheap.

Hey dude, I think i would hook it up , I had a 2001 400 4x4 , I now have a 2002 400 i , the fan run's all the time on 01 , but not on 02 it's controled by temp switch, I have been hearing it run alot more than i thought it would , it's get's real argurvating when you stop to talk , kill the engine and the is still running , you half to cut the switch to kill the fan , If you bought the quad used I would put a switch on the handle bar's to control it, If you cross water very deep it will blow the fan fuse to , that annouying to , I was goning to mine , but decided to trade it , so i left it alone , I tell you this that's a good quad , I kinda miss mine , It done a good job , enjoy 2002-400-I-4x4 2000-250-2x4-1997-220-bayou

I did hook it back up last night, you are right too. It runs all the time when the key is turned. I think I might hook up a switch for it on the handle bars. Great idea! I wonder why they made it like that and turned to a sensor in 2002?

Well, that's how automobiles have always done it, makes sense to me.

You can get a service manual from your dealer.

hey dude, I don't know why they did that way, I know it is annoying , you can just spice in on the hot wire , put a toggle swich on the handle bars , but I recomend a light to come on when it's on, so you remenber to cut back on , But that's my ideal, also they don't put fuel filter's on either, I have to carry my gas, messed up all three quad's because of dirt in the carb, I put inline filter's in no more problem's . I don't know why they do that either ,My kawasaki don't have it either, Every dirt bike i ever had;had a gas filter in the petcock , but not these bird's ,I recomend a filter, I got one today for my 02 I ani't put nothin in, but pump gas in it, you half to hall it to town, but i got to show it off some how,he he he he , I got the inline filter at atv shop for 2 buck's , ani't bad , well i guess you didn,t ask for all this anyhow so good luck.

Thanks, I will leave it hooked up just to be safe. I looked on ebay and found a 2000 manual. Does it contain the same information as the 2001?

By the way....I go by this name instead of nemo now....
