Okay here is the scoop, after talking to Dirty Howies in Alberta, Canada. He told me that that he has looked at the new Diff and it can be locked. So do a serch on the e-net and call him up, he tolded me in the new year he'll be looking for a diff or a dealer that will lend him a bike to start work on. I figure thought if we can get enough response towards him that maybe he'll hurry up and get a locker for the 2002 models.

Good Job Yellow.

Will I still be able to go from 2x4 to 4x4? I assume, the only change will be that when I am in the 4x4 mode, it will be locked, correct? The way I read some where else it would be locked all the time. Anyway, I will try to find this guy and email him, but if you could post it here for us that would be great.

thanks again

I would like my Locker to be like my Friend's 86 Suzuki.

When He engages it, the Diff locks, when he disengages it the diff is unlocked, but still in 4 WD mode.

In other words he can select 2wd or 4wd, and once in 4wd can select Locked or Unlocked.

Would this be possible?? Reason I would like it this way is because it is harder to turn when it is locked.

Articstomper, no it wouldn't be like that at all and I really don't think that would be possible because that whole procedure would have to consist of a whole different diff. Rides4fun it will be locked all the time, but when you switch to two-wheel drive the steering will be alittle easier because the front wheels won't be getting any power. So basically the front is a solid unit now, but under power(4X4 mode) it will be harder to steer because the driveshaft going to the front will be a solid unit as well. Hope this help ya and I can't wait to get one of thise 500i with locker and 28s' underneath her!

Thanks yellow, I understand now.

This solution sounds like it will be very inexpensive. Since it is going to lock up the front, does he still need drawings of the diff. I was at my dealer on Monday, and he got the microfiche for the i models. The microfiche had every part listed and how they went together. The only problem is they don't have a printer hooked up to it, so I'm not sure how I could get you the info. I might be able to send him a microfiche of it though.

No, from my understandment he has everything he needs, all he really wants now is a differential to put his ideas to place. Hope to have something up in the middle of January or maybe early Feb if I can get him a diff or a bike?

Does he want a part # for the front diff and an 800 to order parts from Arctic Cat? I'm going to my dealers in a couple of minutes, I'll write down part #'s for you, and get that 800 #
