looking for a plow
#1
Hi all, been a while since ive been on. hope everyones doing good!
I'm looking to put a plow on my 2001 400. Anyone have any suggestions? I would most likely stay with a 48" width and use my winch for the lift. I don't think I would go with the plastic styles as a bunch of dirt pushing in the yard is in order.
Thanks guys!

Hello, I too have a 2001 400 4x4, I have the Cycle Country Vee plow, its 50" when its straight and almost exactly the same width of the quad when in the V position (perfect width for my front sidewalk). Last summer I tried to use it to scrape the sod off some of the yard and the blade would lay down (even with 4 springs on it) I ended up using a tiller to chop the sod up and the then scrape it off with the blade, works great in gravel or loose dirt (snow too). The bars that hold the blade in a V are the weak link, I have bent 2 beyond repair so far in the year and a half or so that I have had it. About $20/pair for the bars. I also have a winch to raise the blade but it is starting to frey the first foot or so of the cable. Hope I was helpful (if not long winded) feel free to ask any more questions.

Cycle Country and Moose seem to be the most popular brands. I have a Moose 50" straight blade and like it, it's pretty durable. Like Dale said, pushing dirt doesn't work too well unless it's already loose. I've used it to even out piles of dirt and that works OK.
Dale, does Cycle Country have a "factory outlet" store up there where you can buy from, or do you have to buy through the dealers? Just curious, maybe I'd stop by if I was up that way.

Cycle Country doesn't have a factory outlet store or a retail sales area at the plant. I stopped and asked one time about a winch mount. The person I talked to was very helpful and '01 was not listed at the time in the catalog, he got on the phone and called R&D to find out if it would fit. He did end up making a cash invoice for it and sold it to me. BTW the mount for the superwinch wasn't very good, I ended up taking it off. I bought the blade and mount from my dealer when I bought my ATV.
