Hey Mudcat??

I did some checkingin the field by my house. It is slightly uphill and froze over just a crust allmost a 1/4 mile long. I ran back and forth to get it warmed up then ran from the bottom to the top it was relly pretty soft 36.4 mph in 5th and could get 41.6 in 4th gears. I coasted to a stop with the engine shut off and pulled the plug it was a very light tan almost grey. I think I will put a 150 main in tonight. The manual says that a 148 is stock. I have a 150 and a 152.5 so I should be ok. This is with the K&N filter. With the stock and the UNI filter the stock jet was just a little bit rich. As far as adjusting the needle jet with shims I don't think it will be necessary. My mid range is fine it just seems like there should be something more on the WOT position. I started to mess with it last night but got side tracked, maybe tonight.

I got the 150 in and yes I can tell a difference, it will wind out a lot faster now. Also feels like it is more responsive. I may try the 152 just to see how it does. It is real simple to do I think you could do it without removing the carb. I removed it to check the float level, it was right on at 17mm.

Yea ,
I just loosened the boot clamps and spun the bowl to the opposite side as the exhaust. I had 145 main stock, and i think mine could handle a 150 with the washer under the needle. I would think the 500 would too, but you dont have a pipe, so your probably pretty close. I Might try it tommorrow and see. I know when you go to shim the needle (if you do) you have to remove the carb completely, but i did leave the throttle cable attached.
It really woke up the midrange . It actually helped alot on bottom end also, I can powerbrake easily on pavement now, barely could stock. I'm not gonna do that anymore though, i like my tread on my tires and not on the asphault
I really liked them wheels ED got, might have to get me some, but man those things are expensive. I did get me some cool looking polished aluminum handlebars, now i need the wheels to match,
i guess
I must have just missed you, i got there about 1:00 that afternoon.
Talk at ya later.

I couldn't believe how much lighter the magnum wheels were than the regular ITP. I have no idea why so many people run the ITP steel wheel. I bet if they picked both up they would change their mind. They do look sharp too, I'm with you on the price I didn't even ask.
We keep missing each other. We will have to go riding some time.
