jetting a 400 cat ?
#1
whats new guys, i've been reading about jetting in this forum and alot of you said that if you change thinks like air intake and exhaust that you shoulr re-jet, and those of you that did re-jet there 400's said that form the factory that you had a 145 main jet that came stock in it and that you up one or two sizes depending on your needs. i guess what my question is that when i opened up my carb to re-jet i found that i already had a 150 main in it. is this jet to rich i put the arctic cat 147 main in it which actually read 148 on the jet. i'm getting a little confused. can someone help me figure out what the he// is going on. thanks......
p.s. the reason that i tought about re-jetting was because of the k&n air filter that i put on.

That 150 mainjet could be considered a cold weather jet, especially cause of where you live.. You might find when the weather starts warming up in your area you might be running a little on the rich side..
Mine come with a 145 main in it, but i live in kentucky and this winter i could have run a 150 main, and did for a little while, but i opted for the 147.5 main so i wouldnt have to swap jets as the seasoned changed.
Yes when you add a airfilter and exhaust youll need to check your jetting and see how the bike runs and acts, each bike is different and people live in different areas, so tuning will be different in different places.
