Looking at both 4x4's. Rode em, posted a minute ago that the 300 was easier to ride. I wonder on the "trail" if there is that big a difference. Was sure for the 375 auto but then when riding the 300 4x4 seemed much easier to steer. Any ideas out there? I'm all ears.

Hi Ami. All I can vouch for is the 300 4x4. It handles/steers great on trails, dirt and even pavement. You can feel the steering difference between 2wd and 4wd. 2wd is kinda twitchy, whereas 4wd grabs great. For instance, on a dirt road the 2wd will tend to push a bit going around a corner but then snap back coming out of the corner. 4wd just pulls you thru it. I didn't really look at the price of the 375, but if you're looking to save some, the 300 may be all you need. It has plenty of power. I have a Mazda B2200 pickup and had to repair the gas tank with epoxy a couple weeks ago. It was in the garage, where I keep the ATV, so I had to get the truck out. Thing was I didn't want to run it till the epoxy had cured. So, I hooked up the Cat and pulled the up the slight slope in the dirt driveway. It didn't grunt, spin, etc. Just pulled. They are awesome machines. Whichever you get you won't regret it.

Ami~

I sold my dad my 2001 AC300, and then bought my mom a 2002 AC375. I haven't rode the 375 near as much as the 300, but I can tell you my impressions are that I liked the 300 better. The body roll on the 375 was just too noticable for me. Don't get me wrong..the 375 is a great machine, just not one for me, and I would take the 300 over it. (I also liked the manual tranny better then the auto on the cats)

I drive the 375 4X4 and my wife drives the 300 4X4. Yes the 300 does turn and handle better. But I think it is because the suspension is lower than what is on the 375. The 300's A-arms are almost parallel to the ground, when the 375 is angled up. This means the 300's ride is a little rougher and doesn't have the clearance that the 375 has.

I do like the torque grunt that the 300 has being a 5 speed versus the 375 automatic. But the 375 is faster.

Both machines are great! So I guess it depends on your riding style. I like getting in the deep stuff, do a little jumping, and faster riding so I opted for the 375. But she is more "stay on the harder ground" and wanted the better handling so she opted for the 300.

I hope this helps you out.

I've owned a 250 4x4 and now have a 375 4x4, the 375 suffers from body, lost of it. So much there have been times I thought the quad was going over. My 250 suffered from a lack of ground clearance, but never felt "tippy" (just what SilverBear said). If you're going to ride a lot of steep mountain sides go with the 300 (provided you don't need the auto or extra power) and put slightly larger tires on it. Or you could look at the 400i, which around here is only a couple of hundred bucks more than the 375. I like my 375 but the body roll is starting to get a little old. The 300 will have a lower center of gravity, because the suspension is 3" lower than the 375. So if you are traversing hills the 300 will be better. But the 375 will have longer legs to get over rocks and things. Both work great for climbing up and down hills.

Here are the differences between the two machines:
375
- lighted speedometer
- cooling fan on the oil radiator
- automatic transmission
- standard trunk
- ACT rear suspension
- 10.75” of clearance
- Hi/Low Ranges
- 1050 lbs towing.
- 4-value engine.
- 25 amp alternator

300
- 5 spd transmission
- Independent rear suspension
- 8.25” of clearance
- Hi/Low/Super Low Ranges
- 850 lbs towing
- 17 amp alternator

Yes, the 375 does “roll” more in the corners. That is because the suspension is taller, hence the center of gravity is higher. All independent style ATV’s roll in the corners, unless they have a sway bar on it. But then if you have a sway bar you will lose some of the independent capabilities when going over uneven surfaces.

Here are the reasons that I purchased the 375:
- Oil cooled with fan.
- Bigger engine than the 400.
- Same towing as its bigger brothers.
- Same alternator as its bigger brothers (I wanted more power for the winch).
- Same clearance as its bigger brothers (I wanted more clearance for adding the plow).
- Gear for the trail. It will beat the 500 in a race hands down.
- ACT rear end. Less moving parts.

Thanks guys. I will hopefully get to try both this weekend on hilly terrain. I appreciate all your help. It's difficult to know. I'm sure once I get past the choice part I'll be happy!!!! I really did have my heart set on the 375 auto but the little bit I drove the 300, it was just easier. And I will be doing the steep hill thing. I'll be climbing up the Rockies!!! Yahoo!

Cool!

If you are rock climbing I think you will like the fact that the 300 has super-low range for crawling and the 5 spd to make better use of the torque from the engine.

Let us know!

Thanks I'll keep everyone posted. I'm excited to get one. Not too worried about the choice although it does make your head spin a bit. Everyone's opinions are appreciated.
