I just bought a 1999 3004X4. I seem to be having a little problem. When the engine gets warm it idles very high. When I first start it up and get the choke off it is fine. The idle speed goes up as the engine warms. If I put the choke to about 1/3 when it is warm the idle speed stays down. I didn't get a manual with the bike, so I don't know where to start. I hate to take it in to the dealer, which is 50 miles away, if I can just adjust something myself. Any suggestions woulfd be appreciated.

Make sure the throttle cable has some free play. You adjust this at the throttle where the cable comes out of the housing. Just adjust it to where you have about 1/4" free play of the thumb throttle. If this doesn't work you should adjust the valves. also you may check for some type of leak between the carb and head.
