I was told that after you are done riding wash your machine let dry and spray the under carriage with wd40 it will protect and preseve as well as make it easier to clean after you rid the next time. have any of you have any thoughts or experiences to share.

It works for me, the black engine in the 500 really shines with it on there. I use Son of a gun on the plastic, I have heard WD40 is not good on the plastic.

This guy told me toreally saturate under carriage this includes wires seals andallmetal parts (NO PLASTIC) they said. Itseems to me it would be benifical because wd40 disapates water . What are your thoughts?

My thought is that the guy that told you that probably has stock in WD40! (just kidding!)....I use it too on my muffler and any other steel parts, to prevent rusting.

If you really want your plastic to look like new, try the Turtle Wax 2001 Protectant in the bright green bottle. Spray it on and let it set, it will look great, it seems to work better than armorall or stp

Turtle wax protectant on the plastic, and Silkolene Pro Prep on the underside. It contains silicon for protection of rubber and makes metal look fresh painted.

I was gonna' suggest silicon spray also. It also displaces water, I think, and shouldn't hurt the plastic.

WD-40 is a good cleaner too. spray some on and scrub it. (spray 9 gets the stains out also) if this doesn't work get some industrial strength cleaners, like blast off. I've never tried this on a atv motor, but we got our motor in our car steam cleaned, looks like new (no kidding) even the wires, tags, and labels look like new!! i don't see why it wouldn't work on a quad.

P.S WD-40 will fade you're plastic, but i use it on everything underneeth my quad
