The high beam marker lights up all the time, sometimes the gear indicators come on but they are dim if they do. Is there a ground wire loose or does the panel replaced?

If you mean for the speedodomer then yes. I took the gear panel off to see if there was bulbs to replace. There wasnt. There are wires running to each individual gear #, reverse, high beam, oil and temp. markers.

definately sounds like a ground problem to me.Trace your harness down around the steering column and I'm willing to bet you find a pinched/broken wire or a bad contact.

Somewhere I recall hearing that cats have trouble with the indicator lights. My 500i would flicker its temp light every so often when I would put it in 1st gear low, but only 1st low, not 1st high, and it went away when I shifted to 2nd gear or neutral. Gave me quite a surprise at the top of a steep hill... it quit doing this a week later, and hasn't done it since. Personality, I suppose.

Well I took the front plastic and rack off. About a foot down the wires from the gear panel there are two plugs, you can see them without taking the plastic off. There is power in both plug-ins so Im thinking its either something wrong in the panel or the sending unit on the transmission is bad.Now I have a question that should give me the answer to my problem. When you turn the key to the on position, does the oil light come on all the time? I cant remember if it did or not. If yes, the problem should be the panel. If not, since the high beam thing still lights up it should be the sending unit. Any thoughts? Thanks.
