Election results...Good or bad
#4
The Federal election results are great. It gives a clear mandate to President Bush and the Republicans in Congress needed to govern the country more effectively. It is clear that Republicans have locked up the South. They won every Senate and Governor's contest and Bush had a clean sweep of all Southern states. For the country, the election means stable leadership and a clear direction for the next two years.
For our sport, it means we have a chance to establish some reasonable land use policies. The roadless rule in National Forests needs to be revoked. We need better accountability of trail moneys that are already designated for the creation and maintenance of ORV trails. Many states are not spending the money they have received or have shifted the funds to non-ORV use. And, we hopefully will see some reason brough to environmental laws that are locking up land from any human use -- even wise stewardship.
It was a very good election. On the state level, results are mixed across the nation.

Are any of you aware some time ago Kerry said that on "day one," if elected, he would ban sleds in National Parks (Yellowstone and Glacier). It is reflective of his attitudes re. the outdoor motor driven activities we enjoy. I view his attitude as typical of those making rules whose feet have never been off concrete. For our sport, we can be thankful Mr. Bush was reelected.
That said, we cannot and should not rest. Get and stay involved - 2008 is only four years away and do you want to think of what it means to the activites we enjoy if Mrs. Clinton is president.
Be involved, follow the rules and be a good citizen of the land and we will be able to enjoy our outdoor rides for a long time.

I agree with you all........but sometimes I feel as if I'm a lone voice here in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts. I'm extremely thankful and relieved Kerry did not not get in. Being from Mass..... I know Kerry.......he has ALWAYS been a fence-straddler-extrordinaire. He will say whatever is politically expedient at the time and diametrically change what he says depending on whom or what group he is talking to. His record is big-government, raise taxes, increase regulation, anti-gun etc...... the extreme Liberal left.
We are very fortunate to have avoided the Kerry bullet. Not only would he have tried to impliment domestic policies of which most of us would take issue with.....but it became obvious he would be totally malleable to the foolishness, incompetance and impotence of an absolutely discraceful UN. In the face of world crisis he would vasilate into complete blithering indecisiveness and do-nothing-ness. He is the very embodiment of "Political Correctness" run amuck.
..........but other than that.......I guess don't really have strong feelings about it. ;-) LOL
Let's just say......I'm glad.

Actually, there is one thing I forgot. A few weeks before election day Kerry had a big "Photo Op". Big pictures plastered all over the media showing him in full hunting gear......camo, shotgun etc.......Turns out he's really a big hunter!!!
What an absolutely despicable (atempted) manipulation of public perception. That weasle has been one the most ardent and consistant anti-gun voters in the senate. It just makes me want to hurl.
Come to think of it......the camoflage may be somewhat ironic or even appropriate.......he was actually trying to hide who he truely is.
He lost!!!
