2002 500 I rattles
#1
I have a 2002 I that makes a klicking, tinny kind of noise whenever I turn hard left or hard right. the noise seems to come from the front right rim area. Every thing seems to be tight. Nothing seems to be rubbing. The machine has made this noise since it was brand new. The nearest dealer is 100 miles away. Took it there once but they didn't fix anything. Hope you guys ccn help. thanks. hog hunter.

Had the same symptoms on all four wheels when turning on my 2002 400i. Take off your tire and rim and check on the inside center of the rim......that is where the axle rubs on the rim. You should see a few marks or circles. I just took a rasp and worked the axle ends just a trifle...enough to stop the noise. Others have had the same problem, and the cure is simiple.
Hope this helps.

trailblazer. Pulled the rims and filed the ends of the axles. Put everything back together and no more clicking sounds. Thanks for the tip. Hog hunter.
