K&N Filters
#1
Has anybody tried a K&N filter. Did tou notice any difference in power. Does the increased air flow cause engine to run lean. Was rejetting nessesary. Is there a air mixture screw ajustment on carb would this help. Is this a good choice of filter for my machine (1999 ArticCat 500)or should i go to a foam type or is stock filter good.

There is at least one person on here who put a K&N on an AC 500, and it seems as if it made his a little peppier. I don't remember any top speed effect, but it was a little quicker. I will get one sometime. I'm not expecting anything other than a minor increase though. Maybe like the difference in 87 and 91 octane.

i also have a 99 ac 500 and i put the k&n on it.we have 2 identicle machines and right from the first day out mine was slower, mine would not rev it felt like it was running out of fuel especially uphill.the dealer is an hour away and i'm impatient so i took the carb apart and the float level was set to low i raised it and also put the c-clip on the bottom notch of the needle valve i put washers under the front of the seat to allow more air to get to the snorkle and put the filter on.i did this all at the same time so i dont how much the filter added.now on flat ground were side by side thru 3 gears and i pull slightly away in 4th and 5th.but uphill is a different story i really pull away in 5th

I searched and found this old post so i could ask everyone if these filters actually make a difference on a stock quad, or does it need to be modified. I think the filters were a new product at the time.
