a friend of mine is thinking about buying a used 2001 A/C 500cc 5-sp..has 1149 miles on it..it is a 4x4 with a warn 2000 winch. for 3999.00.an older gentleman owned it......any common problems with this year and model..he might buy it monday PM..thanks in advance...

 

I had the same quad with 1500 miles when I traded it in. The only problem I had the gear indicator panel stopped working. Other than that it was great. I replaced the panel for $60.

 

Hi, My friend has that same 500 act. The only thing he doesn't like is the head lights, one of them keep getting water in it. And I heard the foot break switch might short out causing the ignition fuse to blow. Just replace the switch. Other than that it a great machine.

 

I have a Arctric Cat 2001 400 4x4. No problems (793 miles). I'm very happy with the machine. The 500 with its bigger engine should be even better.

I own the 2001 AC 500 Manual, I had a diode that controlled the cooling fan go bad and it overheated. One headlight burnt out. It has been running rich lately, but I have not had a chance to look at it. I had it for a week before I ran it into two trees, bent the bumper and kept on going. I don't think the newer AC's could stand up to hitting those trees. I really can not complain about it other than the diode, it has been very reliable.
