I got a 98 artic cat 300 2x4 atv. I like it alright but the top speed of the machine is very low. I can't keep up with my friends who mostly have Honda trx 300's. Is there anything I can do to get a higher top speed?

 

Larger tires will make it faster if you have the power to pull them.

 

I don't have a lot of power, i think this is part of the problem, i don't think it is pulling 5th gear to its top speed. Would cutting the airbox and jetting do the trick or a k&n airfilter? I don't have a whole lot of money to spend.
