Do you remember someone (me) telling you this would be a sweet setup a while back? But didn't know how to do it.

It's kind of funny that the technology came from a 1950's Ford tractor. I grew up on that thing. It's amazing the turning radius you have with dual brakes. You turn left and hit the left foot brake and you can turn on a dime, literally.

Did you know those old tractors had 50% water and 50% air in the rear tires? They did that for more traction and low center of gravity.

Anyway, I will be buying my brake locker setup next week. It sounds 100% better than just welding the diff. Easy steering and easy on the front end until you need it.

I hear ya.

Have you tried any downhill breaking yet? It seems like it will take some serious skill to keep the sides even left to right. Beginners need not apply!!

Yes

There is some munuvering that has to be done!

But you still have the rear foot brake to help guide you along.

Theres not a big difference in the front downhil breaking other than you no longer have the rear disk working, which takes some getting use to

I already removed the rear mechanical foot brake, including the foot pedal. I found it to be useless in the conditions I ride. I was considering blocking off the rear hydr. brake and removing it before I started trying to do the brake locker mod.

yes after reading your early post about the brake locker idea i said what the heck worth a try. so i started taking off stuff and spent a day running down parts. i to grew up around tractors. my dad is a cotton and rice farmer. anyway was worth the day of running around because now i have everything i want in a bike. now if the cvs will hold up now that i took the lift off i will be happy. but at least with that i guess i could get some gorillas one day.

CatKrazy, is there any reason that you could not install a small hydraulic 4 way valve at the master cylinder and simply move the lever on the valve to the side you wanted to brake on and in the middle position have both front brakes together. I have been searching for a small valve to do this and so far no luck. I know they exist, please let me know of any problems you think this might create. I just thought that this would give you the best of all worlds.

Cheers Jim
