The guy told me that they replace the whole thing when something goes wrong with the front diff. he said it cutts cost and that he is not aloud to buy parts and fix what went wrong. and when i went to pick it up the first time there laid my old chunk!!

It looks like CatKrazy is not the only one with the problem.

Im not sure?
Ya I was in the worst stuff i have ever been ion before yesterday. But it didnt happen when i was in the bad stuff!
I cant really tell if the plug is what it hit,or the actual housing itself that the plug goes in to. That piece is missing. I do see a clear scrape mark from the middle right side "by the pinion" all the way down to the diff fluid drain screw. And the the scrape stops

Do you guys really need to be locked all the time?Have you been out done by other brands? Our farm has a 2002 500(act)4x4 and the front diff seems to be very aggressive, even challenging to handle in snow or climbing slick hills because of power transfer form left to right.I know it is nice to show every brand up but can the others with lockers really show you up?

You just have to know the difference in the 2 There is no comparision! Its not about showing someone up,its about the 4x4 four wheeler doing what it is suppose to do. Would you take a limited slip toyota or checvy out with other modified 4x4 trucks and go were they go? NOPE! if a limited slip went were I did he would spend most of his time on the high ground watching.

CatKrazy- A couple of questions as we try to figure what went wrong. Does it look like there is damage to the teeth on the ring and pinion, like they did not mesh properly or stacked ? Were your differential cover bolts still tight when you tore it back down? Did you remember to put the shims back in on each end of the assembly and use locktite on the cover bolts?
If these things did not happen the entire housing would have had to flex to cause the assembly to move.

Youve got to remember that this is the second time it has happened. Yes all bolts were tight! No there was no damage to the pinion or ring gear! Yes i replaced the diff fuid, yes i put the shims back on.
