Oil line puncture
#1
I had an oil line to puncture from a stick flying up or something this weekend. It was on an AC 300 4X4. My wife and I had ridden for about 2 hours, (me on my 300 and her on her 250 xplorer) and we were taking a break when we noticed something on the inside of my right side rear tire. I looked and couldn't tell where it was coming from, due to the oil and mud. Of course we were on top of the mountain and I didn't have any oil with me. I took her xplorer and rode to the parking lot and found someone I could buy a quart of oil from. I put it in and got the bike off the mountain. We went by the car wash and cleaned it up, took it to our campsite and found that the return oil line coming into the motor had a cut place. There was no place open the next day to get replacement hose (Easter Sunday) so we wrapped duct tape around the cut and put a couple of small radiator clamps around the tape so we could ride. I don't know if this is a common problem or a fluke, but it is something to keep an eye out for. I am thinking about placing conduit over my rubber hose lines.
