04 Banshee
have a 04 banshee and it is bogging down off and on at full throttle. I did a compression test and both cylinders are at 125 psi. it has a modquad head but don’t know what size domes are in it. I can say that I can move the kick start with my hand as if to start it some what easy. when I did the compression test was I supposed to be at full throttle with the choke on? and yes I did check the plugs they are fine. please help

Hello BHPOLLAN,
The editors have selected your question.
Actually after consulting several charts, it appears your compression readings are within normal range. The last Banshee we built had 112lbs psi stock, and after having shaved .20 from the head (along with a port & polish) the compression number jumped to 135lbs.
Based on the mods you describe, 125 psi per cylinder would be spot-on. The bogging down phenomenon is likely a jetting issue, not a cylinder one. While you didn’t include the current jet configuration you’re running or your elevation, it would be a safe bet to recommend taking a look at your Banshee’s carburetors to figure out how they’re set up. A call to your local Yamaha dealer should get you pointed in the right direction as far as proper settings for your elevation.
