Default kazuma 90cc mini falcon

I'm new to the whole atv thing. I'm the youngest of 7, so yea i was poor growing up. Anyway, I just bought my son a kazuma 90cc mini falcon (automatic). When i start it i have to have my foot on the break otherwise it just takes off. Is that how it's suppose to be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
