Well after looking for a long time, I finally got me a 1985 big red 250. Got it off a friend for a very good deal, the only problem is a slight electric problem, but that is getting fixed right now. Anyone elso have one of these machines?

I have the same model, they are an awesome rig. Mine flat out hauls... well you know, but they are really reliable and last forever if properly maintained. The only drawback on them is that they weigh 400 something lbs and once you tip the trike at a decent speed they are hard to recover from crashing. Man best of luck to you and the new big red. Oh yeah and if you could help at all i really need to find some side panels that say big red. If you know anyone with some extra's i really need to know.

 

How fast do these things go??? Mybrother has an '85 250sx and it needs another gear. The power doesn't seem to be an issue, you just run out of gears. I'm looking for a big red right now, but if it doesn't go the same speed or faster...I don't know. They are basically the same engine right??

 

Well they are basically the same engine just a lighter frame, my big red runs about 55 tops. You're right about the power, man i wish i had another gear on mine, it would fly! I'm thinking the sx would go a bit faster but you can use the big red for a lot more things than the sx, big reds are meant for work but can play just as hard.

 

i have 1 85 250es and 5 250sx the sx is the bomb for rideing in riverbed great for wheelies the 250es that i use to tow vic. i think it too heavey would like to sell
