Default Thinking about selling my ATC 250R

Well the boss (wife) wants me to sell the ATC250R and buy a buggy or some used "kids" quads. It is a 1985 ATC250R. was stored from 90 to 2001. Runs great, has new fenders and the front forks have been rebuilt (new seals and boots). No tears in the seat. one small "fade" spot in the tank. Has a K&N filter and a aftermarket pipe and jets to match. Has always been in southern California so no Rust...

My question is what should I ask for it?

Thanks

if everything works, you should be able to get at least $1300, to upwards of $1600-1800. price also seems to vary depending on area. for example, here in NY there aren't too many nice machines left, so it would go for the higher price. you might want to try putting it on ebay.

i concur with d0rk(believe it or not, it wont let me spell your name the right way and post).

if it is in excellent - good condition id ask around 1800. the season is sparking up again and people want these trikes BAD. my friend finally got his 2 weeks ago after looking for months for the right one. he paid about 1400 for a good condition original bore 85. that's another thing, ever had a top end? my bike had a top end before i bought it and i knew the owner and he is the most maticulous person you ever met in your life. ive had people offer me 1800 cash in the desert when it was stock pipe, stinger silencer, mild port, fresh top end, excellent condition. research the cycle trader and play with your pricing. id try the waters around 1700 and work my way down if you arent getting much response.

good luck with the buggy and kids.

The wife should not be the boss so tell her to sell something of hers. If not you will be kicking yourself later if you sell that thing.

ya, wife shouldn't be the boss but....... I picked the 250 up in a trade for a old car I was selling for about 1/2 (or less) of the value of what I can get for the 250R. The guy I traded was in a real jam for a cars so I lucked out. Was not looking for a 250R when I got it.

I have only taken it out 2 times (used maybe 1.5 tanks of gas). I figure the less I ride it the less I will miss it.. It's was the wife's idea but being the "family man that I am" I agree.... It is really fun to ride but I really need something for the wife and kids to ride. I really want a 4 seater buggy so the whole family can go out for the weekend and have fun. I am working on a very limited budget. The $ for the 250R + about $600.00 so probably have to settle for the 2 seater.....
