The clutch wears and contaminates the oil. So use your own good judgement. Some do it after a good days ride. Some go all summer. I do it around 20hrs.

Default 250r oil change??

I usually change mine after about two weekends of riding. That figures up to 1 change about every six hours of riding. Normally I use 10w40 GN4, stay away from the red honda tranny lube. Nic

Hey JD.

Change your oil as much as you can afford it.I change mine after every ride. I run Bel-Ray straight 80 transmission oil and have never had a problem. You can spend a little now or a lot later.Hope this helps. Happy roostin!!!

You mention to stay away from the red honda tranny lube....just wondering why? The place I go stopped carrying the Belray oil i was using, and he recommended this. Can't remember the name of it, but it was red and honda performance something something oil.

thanks

The red oil is okay. Some people really like it, however it seemed to make my tranny hard to shift and acted like the clutch was slipping. After only running for about and hour, it turned grey and didn't seem very good to me so I changed back to plain ol' GN4.
