Default 250R Questions

Does anyone know how many horsepower a 1981 250R is? Also where is the cheapest place to get a clutch for it? And what is the fuel ratio 32:1?

You can run as high as a 50:1 with a semi-syn oil like Golden Spectro. Rear the back of the bottle if you are unsure of what type oil you are using. A 20:1 ratio with a syn oil will be way too rich regarding the oil and will cause plug fouling problems on ANY two stroke engine.

As for the horsepower level of that engine, I have seen numbers ranging from 25 to 35 being put to the ground, and since all the numbers that I have seen were before dynos were popular, all of those numbers may have been guesses.

I know that Honda claims 26HP at the crank....which also sounds a bit conservative if you ask me considering the engine was based off of the '78-'80 Elsinore 250 which Honda claimed had over 35HP at the crank

My brothers used to race the 250R quads, before they got discontinued , but they said it felt like that had 30 to 40 horse power, and say that they are still more powerful then most if not all quads today. I think its because, they were HALF the weight of most quads today, and had more engine power then needed, but hey, u gotta die of somthing, mine as well die of what you love doing

Thrash,

I live around a world that consists of nothing BUT ATVs, dirtbikes, and streetbikes.....always has been. For 50 hours a week, I talk ATVs......and then on my two days off, I run another business where I talk ATVs.

Makes for a real lousy life in a way, but I have oit pretty good sine those near me are just as in to it as I am.

As for keeping it all in my head.......sometimes, I second guess myslef, and when I do, I make it clear to whom I am speaking to, or posting to in the forum.

I am an ATV jabber mouth.
I am a dimwit of common knowledge..........trust me.
