Coolest 250SX

Hmmmm....
Not to be rude, but before you talk about polishing your motor, you should know what it means. "Polishing your motor" means polishing your exhaust ports to create a smoother "quicker" exhaust exit. This would do little for your performance unless you do the following additinal mods:
1) Port the head......meaning, making the passages that feed air and fuel to your intake valves larger (exhaust ports too);
2) getting a bigger carb, possibly off a 350x;
3) getting a cam to increase the lift and duratation that the valves are open See Here ;
4) Larger Valves
5) Performance exhaust to get the exhaust out quicker. Unfortunately, you are stuck with B rated exhaust companies for this;
6) Higher compression piston is optional, but since you already have it apart, you might as well do it.
You can then polish your exhaust ports to "increase flow". This is debatable these days. Some shops don't polish exhaust ports any longer because it does not have any material difference on performance. However, if you are thinking about removing your cylinder head for any reason, then do it right and do it once. You will not likely tear a 4 stroke motor down that often, so while it's apart, I would do everything I could for the money I have. For the amount of money you're talking, I would look into a two stroke ATV...leave the SX as an 'Ol reliable 4 stroke motor and call it a day.
My SX will never be fast. It was radared at 49 mph. I use it to race 200X's. It beats the 85 and older bikes with ease. I haven't raced an 86 though.
Anyway, if you'te looking for an SX with some extra power, I would look into what I noted above, but your perfomance for dollar spent would be better served on a 2 stroke.
Good Luck

Well i know you can get more horsepower for less $ with a 2 stroke. Im not a big engine work guy, I mean I know how the engine works and all but im only 16 so I dont know all the secrets to sucsess for performance. I clocked my sx at 56 mph but i geuss tires and temperature changes will make that much of a difference.
