The old girl isnt running right
#1
My atc185 is running pretty sluggish. When you hit the gas it likes to bog. Choke is off, Plenty of gas and its good gas too. I was thinking water in the carb or something similar. Any suggestions?

Are you positive that the choke is all the way off. Mine did the same thing and it ended up being that the choke cable was seized up. all it took was some WD 40 down the cable and it worked pefect. hope it is something small. good luck

It worked fine since I got it. Went for a ride and it started doing it on the trail after a while. There were plenty of puddles so I'm thinking its a water thing. Choke is a 3 position lever on the carb itself, no cable.

loosen the carb drain in a clean dish.......you will be able to see real quick if there is water in it. if there is then just run a little alcohol (heat). Maybe look for your intake bolts working loose.

Could be main jet obstructed. If it's got the gas cap with the on\off vent in it, once in a while they go bad and won't allow the tank to flow enough fuel. Pull the fuel line off the tank and put a ratio rite cup or something under the tap, turn on and let it fill up. If it quits flowing or slows down, pop the cap off and see if it resumes flow. Also a good time to check for poo in your gas.
