had to see a 200x get ruined today.

I was at work yesterday and a guy came around saying he had heard that I worked on 3&4 wheelers and asked me if I could work on a bike he had just bought. It turns out he had just bought a 200x in decent shape. It had the normal problems of sitting up for a while, no brakes, and it wouldn't run. He said the guy told him it just quit one day about two years ago so he just put it behind the shed. So he droped it off and on my lunch break I dove in and found that it wasn't firing so I checked all the connections and found one of the wires going to the cdi was unpluged. So I plugged it up and it started firing. So I pulled off the carb and cleaned out two years of crud and put it on along with a new plug and fired it up. I rode around on it a minute and noticed that the rear axle was shot. The sprocket was slipping on the axle splines along with the hubs every now and then. This thing ran awsome to. So when he came to pick it up i pointed out the axle problems and told him the proper way to fix it and I also told him to change the oil because they had been pouring gas down the carb trying to get it to crank and the gas was now about 80% gas. He came by with it today and asked me what was wroung with it, saying it wouldn't start. I went out there and the motor was locked up solid as a rock. I asked if he had changed the oil and he just looked down and shook his head. I also noticed that he had the sprocket and hubs welded on. I hate to see a bike with so much potential get ruined. I may buy it from him and put it up for a project down the road. He only gave $200 for it so I figure I can pick it up for a clean $50.
