A sad day for my R
#1
Well I couldnt stand it any longer, I decided that i was going to repair the wiring on my 86 R. I removed the fenders, seat and tank, when i did i noticed something else that i would need before i would have a chance to ride it. It was an upper motor mount ( there wasnt one there! ). After staring it down for a little while i realized that the upper motor mount was not on it for a reason, The frame is bent! I mean Bad too. I am not sure what is going to happen to the poor bike now that this problem has showed up. I might have found another R but i dont know if the frames are the same from 85-86? Just had to share the bad news with everyone.

You can always make a "make-shift" mount out of a couple pieces of flat steel. If it was my trike, I would make the mount, fix the wires, RUN IT!!! make due with what you got! But I know where you are coming from, some of those suprizes suck! Does the trike Track ok??? alingnment wise?

well, I am not real sure how it rides i have never riddin it. The frame alignment above the engine is about an inch off to one side. I am thinking of using some parts off of it for my 84 R and then tryin to completly re-do it at a later date.

are you talking about the head stay? if so you don't need that, I don't use a head stay and almost everybody I know doesn't, most of th aftermarkets heads don't have the mounts, so it not needed. I couldn't use it even if I wanted to(my cr250 coil is mounted to it)
