I want to know what ft. lbs. torque needs to be set on the head of a 83-85 200x motor.

Well first of all the four 8mm head bolts are 20-22 ft-lbs and the four 6mm bolts and phillips screw head bolt are 6-9 ft-lbs. These should tightened in 2-3 steps and in sequence.

Wow I found something interesting!

My Honda Manual says 20-22 ft-lbs for the 8mm diameter head bolts,
and my Clymer Manual says 13-14 ft-lbs for the same bolts.

Both manual state the same 6-9 ft-lbs for the 6mm bolts.

HHMMMMM which is correct? I used the Honda Manual specs for when I rebuilt my X with no problems but I remember it felt kinda funny on the last sequence.

Maybe just to be safe I would contact your local dealer, since when I rebuilt my X I replaced the head bolts and got the last of them from Western Hills Honda who carries alot of older parts. And if they don't have them your almost SOL on finding any.
