Default 86 200x question

Ok I picked up an 86 200x last night. Its not in great shape by any means but it cranks up on the first kick and runs good every time so i bought it. Anyhow what I am wondering is, what parts will interchange between my 83 and my 86? Also the 86 model has a square tube frame where the 83 has a round tube frame. I have never seen an ATC with a square frame, and neither has anyone else I ride with. I had an 86 250r and the frame was round. Was this just an X thing or what?

Not much is gonig to interchange between the 83-85 and the 86 and 87. They were really really different trikes.

Yeah the more I set out there and stare at them the more I am noticing that they are totally different from each other.

Yeah I dont understand why they went to the square tube design really, I guess it was the easiest and cheapest way to accomadate the newer style engine.

Yea Mabe they wanted the new 200x to look totally different from the 83-85 model. or mabe they did that so the older model 200x's parts weren't interchangable.

I think it had more to do with what Honda was producing at that time. Around 86/87, they started to use the box tube on the 250R and some other quads. Instead of using a round tube for the trikes, they switched over to round tube. It was probably for manufacturing/logistics.
