Default blew my trans!!!

i have an 85 250r. about 4 months ago i ceased my trans. the bike starts but shuts off when i try to get it out of gear. i bought a trans off e bay and was woundering if i had to split the cases to replace it. thanks for any help

Yes, you'll have to. I would suggest getting a manual to assist you.

Default blew my trans!!!

Should trans fuid/oil be checked and changed regularly??? I just got a 350X and was wondering if I should do that.

yeah I would get on a scale where you can keep it changed at about the same time. For example, I change my BigBears oil every 300 miles. Thats about 10 tanks of fuel. It doesnt really need to be changed that often but I like to keep it on the safe side. Set you up a system where you do it every so many tanks of fuel or every so many hours of riding, that way it keeps your internals in a nice fresh bath.

yea on your 350x change you oil because i lubricating your crank, piston, valves,a and tranny, i change my oil every 6 hard rides

Thanks, I was under the FALSE understanding that there was a seperate area for tranny oil. I now understand it's all one big place. I've only had the bike less than a week, I'm learning. I changed the oil and filter today....as well as the rear brake pads.

thanks guys, im going to turn the 85 into a project bike. just picked up an 87 banshee so im going to let go the 82 250r. anyone near los angeles?

ill sell the 82 to you. it needs some TLC but it runs. i was going to put it in the paper

I'd love to, but my wife would kill me if I brought home another project. That bike would be a good start to my ATC480 dream/project though.....what are you asking???
