Default Saw a Mexican 87 250R

i went to mexico this december and just got back, there are lots of 250r's over there where i live and i took along my 350x, and yes i saw a mexican 87 250r not lying. its true the 87 does have ignition and is out there, the bike was in pretty fair shape and it did have the whit plastics, and had its faded "R" on its rear fenders, i took a look at the sticker and did say "ATC 250R" "Modelo 1987" in spanish which ofcourse 1987 model, built in 8/86. i asked the dude for a trade or buy it and didnt want to he said hell think about it, im going this june again and see if hell sell it, the bikes i saw were 87 200x u.s, 87 250r mex., 86 tecate, 85 200x, i hanged aroung with these guys over there and we raced our bikes and those 2 bikes kill me. just a little info on the 87 atc 250R

Good find. I recently found what is said to be an 87 Tecate-3, however I could not verify this. If you pick it up, get us some picture.

I was unaware of that. So it's the 87 R's that are so sought after. Anyone ever hear of the ATC500R? I would have loved to see that(if it really exists), I mean, I would have loved to own one!

The 87 250r is not native to the united states, if there is one here, then it came from somewhere else. As for the 500r I think that it made it to a drawing board, possibly even a prototype but nothing beyond that. The 87 Tecates are IMO the best looking ATC to ever roll off a floor but they didnt stay together so i think if you find one thats in one peice and running good then its a machine well worth having...

yea i also heard of the atc500r, service honda had their owner manuals for sale at some time but they are gone,||| the i offered him 5,000 bones for the 87 r well in mexican money, which is about 500 dollars here in the u.s, but he said hell think about it and will have it when i go back. he doesnt know about the 87 250r deal in the u.s. so hopefully i get it. also of what i remember the 87R did have that "ATC" symbol different than the 86 thats one thing i first looked at but the seat is alittle torn from the top by the tank hopefully it can be fixed.

and no he doesnt know why i want it, if i do hell give it to me for more cash, hes smart like that.
