I just bought an 85 200X for a play bike, and I want to use a 250R headlight for a little different look. That said, I'm going to buy a Maier 85 headlight shell. What all do I need to complete the setup? Also, are the globes (glass) for the 85 and 86 different? From what I've seen, the 86 globe looks to be a little wider than the 85. Thanks in advance.

 

I had an 86 250R headlight shell on my 86 200X when I bought it and it did not fit correctly, the straps where way to big so it just kinda "flopped" around. I think that it will do the same thing on the 85, If i can find that headlight shell I will run in the back and find out for sure because I also have an 85 200X.

 

That possiblity had crossed my mind. I guess I could use the straps from an 86-87 200X. What about the rubber straps for a 250SX? I think that the 250SX has the same size fork tubes as a 200X. The 250R has larger diameter fork tubes than the 200X. If all else fails, I'll just use some 1/2" wide black zip ties.

 

the 86 is different i know that but how im not sure. IMO, the 86 plastics looks a lot better.

 

put on a 350x headlight assembly, thats what my cousin did to his 85 200x, and 86 250r, looks sweet.
