Plug sounds good, not lean anyways.
Yeah you could check the valves, thats pretty easy on the 200X.(0.003" or 0.08mm intake and exhaust)
What was all done to this engine during rebuild?
Just bore and new piston? New valves, springs? New cam chain and tensioner? etc...etc...
Rebuilt by you, someone else, dealer?

The little oil hole plug was put back in when the engine was assembled right????
It goes on top of the cylinder head between the head and the cover on the right side next to the end of the cam. Sometimes they get lost and forgot about.
I think with out that plug the cam won't get lube.

hey jeff your right about the plug deal, i think your right it wont lube when my firend rebuilded his 200x he didnt put it in and found out after we tore it apart and the on the left side of the cam which sits on the ring was hella worn out so we had to replace the cam.
but werent exactly sure if it was that, because we used the same old cam.

Spark Plugs are designed to be the weak link in the ignition.
If your plug doesn't run well and the plug from your friends bike runs fine, your plug is bad. Simply put.
Both machines carry the same plug other than the heat range. Your's carries an 8 while your friends is a 7. Other than that, they are the same plug.
And while on the topic of plugs, stay away from the Champion brand if that happens to be the one you are running. I have no explanation as to exactly why...but that brand does not do well in any ATV application and never has.
My suggestion?? An NGK DPR8EA-9 or a DPR7EA-9
If you still run into problems after swapping plugs, you either have a jetting problem, a cold starting procedure problem, a leaking needle valve, or a valve adjustment problem........which is likely due to the ticking noises you are hearing at operating temps.
Adjust your valves to be on the safe side......put in one of the plugs I mentioned (NEW!!)....and go from there. If problems persist afterwards, check the color of your plug and post back. You could have either a jetting problem or a needle valve that is worn.
Keep us posted.
