i was riding my bigred to day and i got it going full speed 5th and i dont even think i was doing 40mph with it . it seems like it would go faster with the stock piston and it and the engin sounded lit crap and afer going about500yds or so full speed it started backfireing and poping thn it would not start for lik 10 mins after

Sounds like it has the flu. Now what you do it put it to bed for a couple days, and make sure it drinks plenty of fluids!

Sounds like it was starving for gas. Check the fuel filter for being plugged, or tank vent plugged , carb vent plugged, or float level low. Could also be old stale gas.

 

i clean the carb and the petcockand put a new gas line and filter on it and it dose the same thing the gas came stait from the pump and into my 3wheeler so it not old i dont know what to do now

you may also have water in ur gas u should put some stablizer in ur gas and check ur oil level my 1986 bigred doses the smae thing u should also check ur air filter and check ur gas lines and filters. Hope this helps in some way

 

sounds like a bad coil to me

 

you could need a new top end it sounds like you might of lost alot of compression

 

maybe its not jetted right?

 

Sounds like she jumped her time check your timing marks if its off you now may have bent valves...

We go up there to race a couple times a year and always show up for the RED CLAY CLASSIC.

I pit for Eric Olson #1 from Ladysmith and used to pit for Rich Bishop #10 who used to live in Ladysmith, Rich has won the classic 3 times I believe.
